Third port of Call.. Puerto Vallarta! Ok, boys, will be boys, and this is a great place to play, so for our final excursion of the cruise lets make the the best of the day! For this surfing safari we'll get off the beautiful Mariner of the Seas and head over to catch our taxi for the day. You can call it a panga, or maybe a zodiac, but no matter what you want call it, I'll just call it my "lazy man's ride". Why lazy man's ride you ask, well because today we'll get to visit one of many breaks offered in and around Banderas Bay, again by the choice of our guide, via a boat! Yes we'll be "dropped off" in the line up and not have to deal with the traffic or walking to the beach, so grab your hat, your sunscreen, and off we go!
Again the lay of the land in and around Puerto Vallarta as is pretty ideal for those of that enjoy surfing. As you can see here in the aerial view image of Banderas Bay, no matter which way the swell is coming from, we'll be able to find it! Once again we'll have the addition of a guide and he'll know where the swell will be and take us where it's at! Along with his boards, his knowledge of the area and an un-crowded break, we should have a great session here in PV! Our own "Secret & Empty Spot"! At this break, I'll call it "Miguel's", is one of the most enjoyable waves I have ever ridden. As you can see behind me you start off going left until the wave runs out, then a nice lazy cut-back and yes, you guessed it, it turns into a nice right hander! The right will take you all the way into the beach and if you catch a good one it might even give you a little tube at the end of your 20 second ride!
