Adventures in Paradise - Alaskan Style!Rod's "Dog House Cruise" Day 9 - Hubbard Glacier, Alaska - Cruising!
"Hubbard Glacier is the one glacier in the world that does not move at a glacial pace. Quite the opposite. In fact, in 1986, Hubbard Glacier - the largest tidewater glacier on the North American continent - moved an average of just under 5.5 feet per hour. Keep a watchful eye as you sail through the Yakutat Bay, as you may be a witness to geological history"
Day 9 - Well mother nature treated us to a "entertaining day", maybe not what we wanted to see, but well ALL made the best of it!
Above is the outdoor pool, and as you can see it was really crowded! Back in the indoor pool it was all smiles and "hot chocolate" as many guests started to line the windows for the a great place to view the glacier.
Inside the Millennium life goes on, no matter what's going on outside! A great cappuccino at the Cova Cafe' di Milano or a little pastry at Cova Cafe' Wine Bar!
Next up, Hubbard Glacier on a misty day! As much as I thought there would be no viewing for us today the bay blocked the clouds and low and below, there it was!
The face of the glacier is 4 miles wide which makes it hard to shoot the whole width!
I have to say, this place never gets old!
After an hour of view Hubbard Glacier Flo and I headed to Michael's Club for a little socializing, and a "shot" of espresso! Here's Flo making new friends from Victoria, BC and having a glass of wine with our goods friends from Vancouver, BC
Next up for me was dinner with the Hotel Director, for Flo is back to the room to "sleep it off", we'll see you tomorrow!
