Day 7 - Hubbard Glacier, Alaska - Cruising!

"Hubbard Glacier is the one glacier in the world that does not move at a glacial pace. Quite the opposite. In fact, in 1986, Hubbard Glacier - the largest tidewater glacier on the North American continent - moved an average of just under 5.5 feet per hour. Keep a watchful eye as you sail through the Yakutat Bay, as you may be a witness to geological history"

Day 7 - Oh my, what a day! One of my busiest days onboard a ship in all of my journeys! Started at 8:00 am with a nice day at Hubbard Glacier, a highlight for all of us! The weather was a little overcast but we could see all the mountain tops and our Captain was able to bring us very close!

These next three sets of pictures were from "special treats" for a select few guests onboard, myself included. First up was a visit to the control center where they keep all the passengers safe and moving 24-7, the "Engine Control Room".

Here I am, in total control, NOT! Due to security reasons Flo could not join me, she wasn't happy about this but I promised to make it up to her somehow!

Next up for the "Elite" Captain Club Members was a private party with all the officers that was VERY well done! Food, cocktails and entertainment that was a very nice benefit to all of those at "Elite Members" level.

The fun had only just begun, next was a visit to the ship's main galley where they serve 1200 meals per dinner seating in just 45 minutes! When you travel onboard a Celebrity Cruises ship the food and service is just outstanding, and to think that they can produce that quality of food for 1200 dinner guests onboard in that time frame is just mind boggling! I bet it looks a little busier than this at dinner time!

The last on my "special treats" on this journey is one of my favorite, a visit to the "Bridge". Once again I do have to say that this is a "special opportunity" and is not a standard function for all onboard, but I did want to share my experiences with you.

These shots are for my Honey who after seeing these might "feel better" about not being onboard at this moment! I personally love days like these and they are not all that common, but there is "Mother Nature" out here and one just never knows!
