didn't get to see some of the other benefits of being in
Alaska? Join us on a narrated motorcoach ride to view
and photograph the famous Mendenhall Glacier. At the
newly renovated Visitor Center you’ll have the
opportunity to talk with Forest Service interpreters,
and through (Picture By: Mark
Kelly) interactive exhibits learn about the
awesome force of glacial ice. Then it's back aboard our
chartered motorcoach where we’ll take the scenic route
through the Mendenhall Valley. At Auke Bay we’ll board
a waterjet-powered catamaran specially designed for
wildlife viewing. Relax in the warm, comfortable,
spacious main cabin, surrounded by large windows as your
experienced captain guides you through the
island-studded waters on our way to visit two
lighthouses, Point Retreat and Sentinel.
We'll spend 20-30 minutes viewing both of these
wonderful lighthouses and as we make this journey our
guide has planed a visit to some of the best "whale
watching" areas in Alaska! Our tour operator has even
guaranteed me we'll see a whale. The vessel is restroom
equipped, will have binoculars and souvenir route maps
available, along with complimentary snacks and
beverages.

During this Shore Excursion, enjoy a short, narrated tour through Ketchikan, Alaska after we leave the ship dockside en route to the tour guide's private dock. Once onboard you'll be able to relax in the heated main cabin or enjoy the open-air observation deck as we embark to circumnavigate the historic Guard Island Lighthouse, established in 1903 and now home to a family of Harbor Seals. Next up will be a visit to the floating Umatilla Lightship. Not only will you be up close with the lighthouses but along the way we'll be able to view 10 eagles nests, abundant eagles and other wildlife that may include Humpback and Orca whales, sea lions, deer, bear, salmon and wolves. Any "Train Buffs" in the Group? Now here's an opportunity for an unforgettable journey, aboard one of the most “Scenic Railway in the World”, to the White Pass Summit. We'll begin our excursion by boarding our own "Private Car" connected to the train right next to the Infinity, "Dock-Side"! From Skagway we'll travel 20 miles from sea level to the Summit of the White Pass at 2,865 foot elevation! Along the way you will be able to relax in one of private old-fashioned parlor cars as we retrace the original route to the White Pass summit, passing Bridal Veil Falls, Inspiration Point and Dead Horse Gulch. Enjoy a breathtaking panorama of mountains, glaciers, gorges, waterfalls, tunnels, trestles and historic sites. See the original Klondike Trail of ‘98 worn into the rocks, a permanent tribute to the thousands of souls who passed this way in search of fortune. This journey takes around 3 1/2 hours for the round trip so Rod has arranged to "stock" the private car with refreshments and snacks, maybe even a nice surprise of two! Unfortunately
this is our last stop, so let's do it right! This exclusive
opportunity will take you on a short walk from the Infinity to where
we can all get "up close & personal" with the first of two
lighthouses we will be visiting, Ogden Point Breakwater.
Completed in 1916, Ogden Point Breakwater was marked the following
year by a square, white pyramidal concrete tower that displayed an
occulting white light at a height of forty feet above high water.
