Day 7 - An Evening in Victoria, BC

Ogden Point Breakwater in Victoria, BC, see you there!

Unfortunately this is our last stop, so let's do it right! This exclusive opportunity will take you on a short walk from the Infinity to where we can all get "up close & personal" with the first of two lighthouses we will be visiting, Ogden Point Breakwater. Completed in 1916, Ogden Point Breakwater was marked the following year by a square, white pyramidal concrete tower that displayed an occulting white light at a height of forty feet above high water. From Ogden Point we'll board our chartered buses and have a short "narrated" drive through Victoria on our way to a private viewing of the Fort Rodd Hill & Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site. There we will visit the newly renovated Fisgard Lighthouse museum. Inside the building are two floors of exhibits, dealing with shipwrecks, storms, far- flung lights, and the everyday working equipment of the light keeper a century ago. Right next to the tower stairs on the second floor, a specially-made video evokes the loneliness and isolation that was the lot of the l9th century keeper. After our visit to Fisgard it's back on our buses for a little narrated sightseeing through the streets of Victoria with a stop or two along the way back to the ship for photo opportunities. For those joining us on this exclusive excursion we will have an early dinner onboard the Infinity prior to our departure as well as added refreshments along the way, because you know after a week on the cruise ship we wouldn't want anyone to go hungry, now would we!

Empress Hotel

Victoria is a beautiful city and we will take our chartered bus though the "highlights". Here on your left is the Empress Hotel, a must see for anyone that hasn't been here before.

Before we depart you'll want to get a nice "early" dinner. There are many options to enjoy dinner before we leave but you will want to eat a "main course" before leaving the ship between 6:00 & 6:30 pm. The view below is from deck 11 as we head into Victoria, B.C. and just below is the "Buffet Restaurant" area to fuel up!

On the right is the Infinity docked in Victoria where we will begin our evening walking to visit Ogden Point Breakwater. The light is all the way at the end of the breakwater and will give an up close and personal visit to the break water light.

At the end of the breakwater is Ogden Point Breakwater. Watch out for waves if it's a little rough, it can be very entertaining! On my visit there was a very friendly Harbor Seal looking for a hand out or just showing off, either way he was entertaining! This last shot is our pathway as we head back to get on our bus for a narrated journey to Fisgard Lighthouse for a private tour of the newly remolded lighthouse museum,
