"cool" lighthouses and what would our journey be if you
didn't get to see some of the other benefits of being in
Alaska? Join us on a narrated motorcoach ride to view
and photograph the famous Mendenhall Glacier. At the
newly renovated Visitor Center you’ll have the
opportunity to talk with Forest Service interpreters,
and through (Picture By: Mark Kelly) interactive exhibits learn about the
awesome force of glacial ice. Then it's back aboard our
chartered motorcoach where we’ll take the scenic route
through the Mendenhall Valley. At Auke Bay we’ll board
a waterjet-powered catamaran specially designed for
wildlife viewing. Relax in the warm, comfortable,
spacious main cabin, surrounded by large windows as your
experienced captain guides you through the
island-studded waters on our way to visit two
lighthouses, Point Retreat and Sentinel.
We'll spend 20-30 minutes viewing both of these
wonderful lighthouses and as we make this journey our
guide has planned a visit to some of the best "whale
watching" areas in Alaska! Our tour operator has even
guaranteed me we'll see a whale. The vessel is restroom
equipped, will have binoculars and souvenir route maps
are available along with complimentary refreshments.

Here's Juneau, Alaska! Mount Roberts "Tramway" will take you right from the ship to the top of the surrounding mountain top, great way to see the world, especially on a clear day! For this optional "self guided" excursion you can book right onboard the ship.
Easy walking for those that would prefer to visit the shops in Juneau. Below left is the famous Red Dog Saloon, a fun place to visit, and the "main street" of Juneau.
We will have a short narrated bus ride through downtown Juneau on our way to the Mendenhall Glacier State Park for a 50 minute visit and view another part of what Alaska is all about, a Glacier!
After our visit to Mendenhall Glacier it's off to the our "High Speed" Catamaran for a little lighthouse viewing. First stop here will be Sentential Lighthouse on your left, a few whales later we'll be at Point Retreat. These are two very good looking lighthouses and we will cruise back and forth for the best view and get as close as possible for good photo opportunities.
Another shot of Point Retreat and a little "tail slapping" from one of the locals, you'll enjoy them both! This is a beautiful area and is all cruising in the "inside passage", basically nice smooth big lake if you know what I mean.
These shot were taken by myself on my "research cruise" at the end of June in 2010, I am sure you will create your own memories and will treasure them for ever, just like I will.
